Our Weekly Bookmarks Bar
[Event: Women in AI and Data Science Conference] The fourth iteration WiADS will take place on November 3rd, including virtual and in-person events. This one-day event celebrates and supports women and non-binary professionals in analytics, AI, and data science. Hosted by the Data Science and AI Hub at the University of Minnesota, it features technical talks, panels, and networking opportunities to inspire learning, collaboration, and innovation in the field.
[Blog Post: Build Your Own Database] This post by Nanda Syahrasyad walks through how to build a simple key-value database from scratch, starting with basic file storage and gradually improving efficiency through append-only logs, indexing, sorting, and compaction. It culminates in the creation of an LSM tree, the same data structure used by real-world databases like LevelDB and DynamoDB for fast, scalable data storage.
