Welcome to the eighty fifth ever issue of Monday Morning Data Science from the Fred Hutch Data Science Laboratory. We are excited to show you what we have been working on (Fresh from the Lab), plus links that we think you would be interested in (Our Weekly Bookmarks Bar). Part of the purpose of this newsletter is to start conversations, so if you have a question or there is something you would like to share with us please let us know by responding directly to this email.
Fresh from the Lab
[Software Release: Fred Hutch cBioPortal] DaSL in conjunction with Fred Hutch Scientific Computing (SciComp) is excited to announce the launch of the Fred Hutch instance of cBioPortal! cBioPortal allows users to easily explore multi-omic cancer data with an easy-to-use point-and-click interface. The Fred Hutch-specific instance almost identical to the public instance, but allows labs to host their data with restricted access. For more information, read the documentation linked above or visit cbioportal.fredhutch.org to take it for a spin!
Our Weekly Bookmarks Bar
[Fun Website: Bop Spotter] An Android phone in San Francisco's Mission District uses Shazam to constantly monitor and identify street music, capturing the city's cultural "vibes" in real time. Unlike the police's ShotSpotter used to detect gunshots, this setup listens for music, aiming to observe cultural trends without consent or detection.
As always you can contact us by replying directly to this email, you can contact the Data Science Lab at data@fredhutch.org, or you are welcome to join us on the Fred Hutch Data Slack Workspace.
